E. Stewart Williams (1909-2005) was a prolific modernist architect based in Palm Springs, California.The new documentary ‘The Nature of Modernism: E. Stewart Williams, Architect’ traces Mr. Williams’ family history and professional career, from the early days designing a home for Frank Sinatra, to the later years, producing civic structures, including the Crafton Hills College, Palm Springs Art Museum and Santa Fe Federal Savings, now the Palm Springs Art Museum’s Architecture and Design Center, Edwards Harris Pavilion.

With access to countless hours of never-before-seen archival interviews with Williams, interviews with Williams’ family, friends and related associates, private photographs from the Williams Family collection and vintage architectural images, this compelling documentary provides an intimate portrait of this desert modernist master.
